          <dc:description>As a collaborative research project with Hyogo Prefecture and Kobe University, an experiment was conducted to verify the damage to non-structural components such as exterior walls and ceilings, as well as the overturning and scattering of furniture and fixtures, that could occur inside and outside high-rise buildings during a major earthquake. The experiment used a full-scale model of a high-rise building, with parts of the building cut out, and applied seismic motion on the E-Defense shake table. The simulated motion was based on the expected motion of a Nankai earthquake and the observed motion of the Hyogo-ken Nanbu earthquake. The detailed data and video footage obtained from this experiment are available.</dc:description>
