Preliminary results of two case studies, the mountain enhanced rainfall case and the fast moving rain cell case, suggest several advantages of MP-X radar estimates. First, the accuracy of MP-X radar is higher than that of Radar-AMeDAS over mountainous area where available raingauges are limited in the Radar-AMeDAS estimates. Second, the temporal and space resolution of MP-X radar data is better than Radar-AMeDAS data: MP-X radar has 1 minute time resolution and 500m space resolution while Radar-AMeDAS has 30 minute time resolution and 2.5km space resolution.
