The test specimen was designed to simulate both dynamic response characteristics of high-rise and low-rise office buildings to evaluate comprehensive basic data of interior damage. The predominant period of input motions were considered both characteristics of subduction earthquakes and near fault earthquakes. The specimen was installed a large interior space with 18.9m×9.0m plane size, 3.8m floor height, and 2.4m ceiling height to simulate interior space damages due to interaction among ceilings, partition walls, suspended air conditioners, and office furniture.
