Results demonstrated that tidal levels calculated with the coupled model agree well with those observed at all locations in the Seto Inland Sea. The coupled model with MM5 and CCM is indispensable for simulation of storm surges in the inland sea and inner bay, with their complicated coastline and landforms. © 2009 World Scientific Publishing Co.
