In this study, nine bridges in the inundated areas of Iwate Prefecture, Japan were selected as targets to estimate their damage status from post-event TerraSAR-X (TSX) satellite images and Pi-SAR-X2 airborne SAR images. By visual interpretation, washed-away bridges could be identified from both the satellite and airborne very high-resolution SAR images. The statistical analysis was carried out to classify non-damaged bridges, debris blocked bridges and washed-away bridges.
