In order to verify the seismic performance of the lower floors of high-rise buildings, a series of experiments was conducted in which a full-scale test model was subjected to repeated long-period, large-amplitude shaking. Assuming an average-sized high-rise building with 21-story above the ground and a height of 80 m, a full-scale steel frame structure was built from the first to the fourth floors, and a system was incorporated on top of this to simulate shaking from the fifth to the 21st floors.
