It can be recognized that the acceleration and displacement responses of the deposit in 1-D shaking are larger than those in 2-D shaking when the input motions of both shaking in each corresponding direction are similar. The cyclic loops between shear strain and horizontal acceleration of each layer are presented to demonstrate shear deformation characteristics.
